At the edge of Earth's umbra
On the night of October 28, 2023, a full moon hung in the sky. Shortly after, the moon passed by the umbra of Earth, and the entire process lasted for over an hour. This photo shows the entire process of the moon passing through the Earth's umbra.
The moon travels from the right side of the photo to the left side. The moon in the middle of the picture was taken during the most obvious partial lunar eclipse, while the first and the third photo were taken approximately 10 minutes after the start and 10 minutes before the end of the partial lunar eclipse. The upper orientation of the photo is north.
